Fuck yeah, serotonin!

The sun's coming out in preparation for its 3-month hang out session in the Seattle sky, so once again, my SAD (or what I assume to be SAD) is dissipating. This means more bus-time writing and a little bit more drawing, but it also does not mean that I am any less lazy, so I doubt I'll get to posting anything decent until summertime, when I always promise that I will post decent things but never actually get around to it anyway. I've gotten to the good part of my story but (at the risk of sounding depressed and emo, but really I'm only speaking the truth here) I'm the only person who is actually interested in that, so it's irrelevant. Hopefully, the last 8ish weeks of Sophomore year will do a good job of rushing by.

I have reached several conclusions simultaneously, and they mostly have to do with life and happiness and that kind of junk. Basically, life's short, and I don't have time to be worrying about the stupid stuff. You know, that kind of internal dialogue bs. Long story short, that kind of mentality gets me in a little bit more creative mood.

Enjoy my lack of updates, suckers.

Seeing what you have completed for the Cornish portfolio has given me ideas of how my own should look.
xD I'd like to give you thanks because I was starting to freak out, thinking I needed every piece to be extremely detailed and absolutely perfect.
:iconmorongoron:
Nope, they just want to see your process. Make sure you bring along some initial sketches for your more complete pieces (they don't have to be a part of your portfolio itself.)

Thank you so much!
They already accepted my application (it only took them a few days to accept, I was very surprised) and the Admissions Counselor came to my school for a visit, so he helped me figure out what to do for my portfolio since I was the only one who attended the little workshop.
:iconeatthedaisiies:
helllooo there. I searched "Cornish Portfolio" on here and some of your work came up from your portfolio. Well I was wondering if you were accepted into Cornish? I'm extremely interested in going there and kinda just wanted some insight on what my portfolio should look like. I know what they want in the portfolio, but I just want to see want someone else has done. :D

Yep, I'm currently in my second year here in the Motion part of the Design department. One of the biggest critiques I got for my portfolio was the lack of color, so I suggest you add some to yours! Other than that, the woman who interviewed me must have thought I was good enough, because I didn't get too many other negative comments on what I showed. If you're going into the Design department, especially if your focus is Visual Communications, you'll want to have a fair understanding of how to effectively produce a good layout by the beginning of sophomore year.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

well I know the design portfolio is different from the art portfolio, but I was wondering if you could still hep me out with something. When they say "Present five drawings from observation using black and white materials" do they literally mean using only the colors black and white or do they mean like basic pen/pencil and paper type supplies? If you don't know, it's cool, but if you do know that would be mucho helpful. That's the only part of the portfolio that I'm kinda confused about.:cheese:

Black and white materials...well, most likely you want to stick with ink, charcoal, conte, and dark pencil on paper. You probably want to stick with still lifes, portraits, etc. A lot of charcoal happened in my Design drawing classes, so I'm assuming they just want to check out how well you can render what you see in two tones, especially in charcoal/conte.

Screw balance. Unbalanced people are way more interesting. True geniuses forget to put on their pants in the morning.
